Built for the Build: The Story Behind CCI
Share
Collaborative Concepts Inc. started with a simple thought: There has to be a better way.
For founder Shelton Einerwold, that thought usually came somewhere in the middle of building a motorcycle.
It might be a tool that didn't exist, a part that needed protecting, or one of those frustrating jobs that required three hands when you only had two.
Like most builders, Shelton's answer has always been to figure it out.
Modify something. Make something. Grab whatever is laying around the shop and find a way to get the job done.
Getting into CAD and 3D printing changed that.
Instead of thinking, "Someone should make something for this," he could sit down, design it, print it, and see if it actually worked.
Sometimes it did.
Sometimes version one went straight in the trash.
But eventually, those little ideas started turning into tools that stayed on the workbench because they actually made the next job easier.
Then other people started noticing.
"Where'd you get that?"
"I made it."
"Can you make me one?"
After hearing that enough times, it became pretty obvious that maybe these weren't just his problems.
That's where Collaborative Concepts Inc. came from.
And the name was intentional.
Shelton never wanted CCI to be just one guy coming up with ideas and selling them. The bigger vision is to build a group of people who bring different ideas, skills, and experiences to the table—and create something better together.
Because the truth is, nobody knows everything.
The builder sees something the designer doesn't. The mechanic has solved problems most people have never encountered. Someone else might have an idea that completely changes the way you look at something.
Sometimes all it takes is standing around a motorcycle and hearing someone say:
"You know what somebody should make..."
That's the Collaborative part of Collaborative Concepts.
It's built around a pretty simple belief:
Life is better when we work together.
Share what you know. Learn what you don't. Help each other build cool shit.
And when someone says, "There has to be a better way," maybe we find it together.
